Garents DroSongs I didn't notice these "Variants" albums until Richard had already made four of them available. I bought all four immediately, and then thought "You know, I probably should have listened to at least one of them before buying the whole set.".

But I'm happy to find out that these first four are excellent, and I look forward to any new ones.

sumbuk Variants (all of them) are best described as electronirock with occasional ambient styling (at least so I believe). Some tracks have trumpet and sax, some have manipulated pre-recorded vocals. All are interesting. This is applicable to all 3 Variant EP's released so far, and likely the upcoming 4th, as well.

Steve Mahoney The Variants releases 1 to 5 is a brilliant concept. Variants.1 is superb. Some beautiful tracks on this. Ambient, spacial sounds. Buy this. Or buy the whole set. So far my favourite collection of cd releases this year.
